In the beginning, it was the value, then, through the journey of art, his directions and creative paths Multiplied. Hossam Abou El-Ela was born on the 14th of August, 1962, and studied at the High Institute of Theatrical Arts when the theatre was the container of arts with all their different types. His study flourished his talent in critical writings, photography, and sculpture. Arts can get close to each other in their structural components, so Abou El-Ela pursued Postgraduate Diploma, then a master’s degree, then a doctorate in the Philosophy of Arts with an A+ to enrichen his knowledge and unleash his imagination.
He has participated in different fields of art and culture as he is a director in the National Theatre, a director-general in the Ministry of Culture, a Drama teacher in the High Cinema Institute at Academy of Arts, a lecturer at faculty of Specific Education, Ain Shams University, a member in Egypt’s Fine Arts Syndicate, and one of the founders of the Egyptian Association of Theatre Hobbyists. He also has effective participations in national group exhibitions, such as the 3rd Youth Salon in 1991, and his name is included in the first part of the Salon’s encyclopedia that is edited by doctor Sobhy Al-Sharouny in 1994. This encyclopedia is one of the Fine Arts Sector’s most important versions. Also, he participated in the Egyptian Photography Association. In the First Summer Exhibition, in one of the private halls in 2020, his sculptures stood with their representation of the issue of the unit of mass and its relationship with the void. On the global level, he took part in Kelibia Exhibition in Tunis and Brussels Exhibition in Belgium.
He had a private gallery in September 2015 called the Myth of Zuma Tribes in RaghebAyad hall at Gezira Art Gallery. In this project, Abou El-Ela was affected by his academic work in Drama, as he created a new imaginary tale of people sleeping under the ground and are a source of happiness for whoever finds them. Therefore, in his bronze sculptures, you meet those people with their mythical features, soul, and details. You also immigrate with them in a group of dramatic events which you can participate in making their plot, and you may prefer to stay with them in this honest artistic world, even if it takes confronting social challenges and traditions.
